Why Belarus?

Advantages of investing in Belarus:

 

1. Strategically important geographical position of the Republic of Belarus;

2. The recent positive dynamics in the investment climate of Belarus:

•       in 2007 the international rating agencies Standard & Poor's Ratings Services and Moody’s Investors Service gave Belarus the stable forecast;

•       according to the UNCTAD World Investment Report 2007 Belarus belongs to the group of countries with high potential for foreign direct investments with 47th inward FDI potential index (in comparison with 49th position in 2006 and 65th position in 2000);

•       in 2007 in comparison with 2006 international trade of Belarus increased by about 30 per cent;

•       Belarus is one of the most rapidly developing CIS States, occupying 57th position in UNCTAD’s Trade and Development Index (TDI);

3. Progressive investment legislation: according to the research of the investment climate in different States conducted by the International Finance Corporation, Belarusian legislation deserves high evaluation and is considered to be one of the best among the CIS States;

4. Investment guarantees in Belarus:

•       reinvestment guarantees;

•       impossibility of nationalization or requisition of investments without compensation;

•       guarantee against the unlawful acts (or acts of omission) conducted by the State authorities;

5. Preferences for the companies with foreign investments:

•       longer terms for the formation of the authorized fund;

•       more favourable conditions in price setting;

•       attributing the salary to the cost price of the product in full;

•       5 year period exemption from the profit tax and other taxes and dues applied to the companies with foreign investments, which were founded beginning from April 1, 2008 in the settlements with the population size up to 50 thousand;

•      additional preferences for companies operating in Free Economic Zones;
