The Republic of Belarus is a unitary, democratic, social and constitutional State.
State power in the Republic of Belarus is exercised on the principle of division of powers between the legislative, executive and judiciary.
The representative and legislative body of the Republic of Belarus is the Parliament –called National Assembly. It consists of two chambers - the House of Representatives (110 deputies) and the Council of the Republic (64 members).
Executive power in the Republic of Belarus is exercised by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus headed by the Prime Minister.
The Head of the State is the President of the Republic of Belarus.
Supervision of the constitutionality of enforceable enactments of the State is exercised by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus.
The Constitution in force of the Republic of Belarus was adopted in 1994, with the subsequent amendments and additions adopted at the national referenda on November 24, 1996, and October 17, 2006.
