Judicial System

Judicial power in Belarus belongs only to state courts and is exercised independently from legislative and executive powers.

Belarusian judicial system is based on the Code “On Judicial System and the Status of Judges” of June 29, 2006, Civil Code of Practice of January 11, 1999, Economic Code of Practice of December 15, 1998, law “On Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus” of March 30, 1994.

Judicial system relies on the principle of territoriality and specialization. It consists of Constitutional Court, general and economic (commercial) courts.

 

General courts include:

Competence of general courts covers civil and criminal law cases.

 

Economic Courts include:

Economic courts administer justice on issues arising out of commercial relations.
